GV II

School now house. Dated 1856. Limestone rubble with red
sandstone dressings. slate roof. T-shaped plan with lean-tos
in the angles; Gothic Revival style. Single storey. Front
gable has large quoins and triple lancets in bonded ashlar
surrounds, each light with latticed iron casement and
shouldered head. Above the windows a ribbon reads 'FEAR GOD
AND HEED HIS COMMANDMENTS' and above that a quatrefoil plaque
under hoodmould states '1856/ IN MEMORY OF/ - - - MICHAELSON
ESQ/ OF THE ISLE OF BARROW'. Shaped kneelers, ashlar gable
copings and apex finial. Lean tos set back on each side have
single-light windows and ashlar copings. Quoined square-headed
doorway into left return of left lean-to. Both returns of main
building have gabled elevations as front except for slits in
place of the front gable ornament.
