Terraced houses with shops. c.1790-1800 (later altered shop fronts)
Portman Estate development. Stock brick, with stucco ground floor to
Chiltern Street return of No. 54; concealed slate roofs. 4 storeys and
basement. 2-window wide front to No. 50, one window to No. 52 and
2-window front to No. 54 with 3-window return. Ground floors have altered
Victorian shop fronts; No. 54 retains semicircular arched doorway and
window to return. Upper floors have recessed sashes with stucco reveals,
under flat gauged arches (red brick to No. 54). The return of No. 54 has
2 blind windows. Stone coped parapet to Nos. 50 and 52; crowning stucco
cornice and blocking course to No. 54. Cast iron area railings with urn
finials to No. 54. Included for group value only.
