Carriage house and stable with yard wall and outbuilding to
Vicarage. c1852. For Canon du Gard. Rubble with ashlar quoins
and dressings and stone slate roof. Rubble walls with stone
coping. Carriage house and stable: Tudor style; L-plan. One
storey; 3 bays, the left a gabled carriage shed with Tudor
arch with voussoirs and impost blocks to double boarded doors.
Similar surround to boarded pitching door above in steep
gable. Small triangular vent above pitching door. At right, a
single light in stone surround and C20 double boarded vehicle
doors under altered lintel. Steeply pitched roof, with higher
cross ridge over carriage house, has stone gable copings. Rear
elevation shows pitching door under gable as at front.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Yard wall runs to left from carriage house and breaks forward
towards rear of vicarage with pent outbuilding of rubble with
stone slate roof, boarded doors with wrought-iron strap
hinges, and flat stone lintels.
At right of stable building a lower wall breaks forward and
ends in pier at rear of vicarage, forming with pier attached
to vicarage the entrance to yard. Piers are square with
pyramidal coping.
