Malton Street Board School designed by Botterill & Bilson, 1888, with late C20 alterations. Brick with ashlar dressings and slate roof topped with a square wooden bell turret with pedimented openings and square lead dome with finial and weather vane. Flemish Renaissance Revival style. Plinth, moulded sill band, crowstepped gables, one with stack, two with finials. Single storey; 12-window range. Windows are wooden framed glazing bar casements, the smaller ones with segmental heads and scroll keystones. Higher central block has two 8-pane windows flanked by single large through-eaves dormers with crowstepped gables and finials. Each has a round-arched recess with voussoirs and shaped keystone, containing a 32-pane mullioned and transomed casement. Beyond, on either side, two 8-pane windows. To right, a lower block with two 16-pane cross casements. To left, a block with flat-roofed porch and central doorway, flanked by single 6-pane casements.
