Terrace of 14 houses. c1794. Stucco with limestone dressings,
party wall stacks and a pantile roof. Double-depth plan. Late
Georgian style.
Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement; 2-window range, Nos 7 &
8 three-window range. A composed terrace to the extent of
having a central pair of wider houses; irregular pilasters, to
a moulded coping. Semicircular-arched doorways on the side
toward the middle of the terrace, good with wide fanlights
over margin lights, fluted jambs and 6-panel doors. 6/6-pane
sashes, 3/6-panes to the second floor; 4-pane narrow basement
windows, and some single dormers. The rear elevations have
varied fenestration including wide ground-floor Venetian
windows.
INTERIOR: entrance hall with a semicircular arch to a central
lateral dogleg stair with stick balusters, and ramped rail;
fireplaces, 6-panel doors and shutters. Some houses have
dogleg stairs to the party walls. Plans vary, as the interiors
were probably fitted out to suit different clients.
A unique style of doorway for Bristol.
