Church of St Cuthbert

Dovecote used as hearse house in C19. Probably C16 with C19 alterations. Large
blocks of dressed red and St Bees sandstone, under hipped graduated greenslate
roof. Partly-blocked narrow south doorway. North wall has large C19 double
plank doors, altered to take hearse. Interior has remains of original stone
boulins. See Transactions Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian & Archaeological
Society, old series, ix, pp.425-6.
