Moated farmhouse of the early-mid C16. There is a date panel on the central
chimney stack with the date 1631 and the initials N.T.F. (Sir Thomas Fisher).
Timber-framed and plastered. The south end was burnt down before the second
world war and was rebuilt in brick with a slate roof. Two storeys. At the
north end of the west front part of the upper storey is jettied on curved
brackets, with a curved eaves line and a swept roof over. The windows generally
are modern casements. Roof of the original part tiled, with an original chimney
stack with diagonal shafts on a square base. The base has a plastered panel
with a modern date (formerly recorded as 1659). (RCHM 8).
