C15 timber-framed cottage now plastered and painted black and white in imitation
of timbering. Hipped thatched roof. Casement windows with small square leaded
panes. Two storeys, three windows. This was the residence from 1582-93 of the
Rev John Frewen, the Puritan divine who was Rector of Northian from 1582-1628 and
who was the founder of the Frewen family in Northian. His eldest son the Rev
Accepted Frewen who was Archbishop of York from 1660-4, was born here in 1588.
