Rectory: late C18 portion to rear, front of c.1825 for Rev. Edward
Stanley. Washed Flemish bond red-brick with buff sandstone dressings.
Welsh slate roof and 2 brick chimneys. Tudor Gothick style.
2-storey, 4-bay front. Stone plinth. Left end bay projects under
gable and has 5-light mullioned and transomed canted bay window under
a label mould. Above is a 3-light mullioned window also under hood
mould. 1-storey porch to right has 4-centred arched entrance with
half glazed door and panels behind. Remaining windows are mullioned
or mullioned or transomed (some with mullions removed) all under hood
moulds. To rear are 12-pane sashes.
Interior: 6-panelled doors with raised fields. Well staircase with
square balusters and curving moulded mahogany handrail. Box pews from
church re-used as panelling in parts. Some stained glass panels in
the windows.
Watercolours of 1818 and 1832 within the house bracket the date, and
show the now demolished continuous iron verandah.
