Folly/prospect tower. Completed 1865, by T.H. Wyatt for John Moore Paget of Cranmore Hall (now part of All Hallows School) (q.v.). Rubble, pyramidal lead-sheeting roof, wide projecting eaves with a cornice, spike and ball finial. Square on plan, Italianate. Approximately 45m high. Viewing area at the top with pair of semi-circular headed openings to each face with a restored iron-railed balcony beneath each pair. A similar balcony just over half-way up is continued right round the tower. Access to the balconies is from an internal timber staircase which has been restored, single round-headed windows provide stairlights at intervals. Entrance at base to east. Contiguous buildings abutting to north at base of tower are virtually completely rebuilt and are not of special interest. Very prominently sited on a high point of the East Mendip range.
