Farmhouse with barn attached to rear. C17, later C17 addition to left forming
L-plan, with barn, C19 and C20 alterations. Limestone rubble with stone
dressings, brick, double Roman tiled roof with crestings, raised coped verges,
brick ridge and gable stacks. 2-room, through passage plan with dairy to right,
additions form T-plan. 2 storeys and 2 windows, ground floor has two 2-light
casements with wooden ovolo mullions and timber lintels to left, straight joint,
door in wooden gabled and trellis porch, 2-light stone window with ovolo mullions,
iron stanchions and timber lintel to right; first floor has 2-light Clg casement
with timber lintel to left, similar 2-light stone window under eaves to right;
wing projects to front left, at inner side has mid-C19 French window and 2-light
casement under eaves, front of wing has wide buttress for stack. Left return has
2-light window at ground floor with stone ovolo mullion, 2-light casement under
eaves; barn to left, slightly projecting, has gable end with garage door and
loading door above, stable door to left. Right return has single storey dairy,
with window opening at ground floor and under eaves, unglazed, with square wooden
mullions, upper one 4-light, lower one 3-light; small brick lean-to; gable end
of main house has 2-light casement with stone ovolo mullion, partially blocked.
Rear has small blocked single light in wooden frame in dairy wall, door to rear of
passage with vertical raised mouldings and glass insertion, in plain frame,
buttress for stack, 2-light window with stone ovolo mullion, C20 door and small
fixed light; first floor has single light (to stair) and similar 2-light stone
window, 2 C20 2-light casements with timber lintels to right. Barn attached to
rear right has wide stable door and lean-to at inner side, 2-light casement in
rear gable end. Interior: dairy has cellar with cheese trough; stair door to
rear of passage has same vertical mouldings as rear door, stair rises along rear
wall straight to first floor and winds to attic level. Rest of interior and barn
not inspected.
