SY 49 SW SYMONDSBURY SHUTE'S LANE

6/137 The Rectory

Rectory, formerly single house. Later C18. Ashlar stone walls with moulded
cornice and plain parapet over. Slate roof: with stone gable copings which
disappear behind parapet. Brick stacks at left and right gables. 2 storeys
and attics. 3 windows, sashes with glazing bars and flush wooden frames.
Projecting keystones. Central upper window blocked with stone. Key intact.
Old glass in windows. 2 dormers, 2 light casements with glazing bars, ogee
cornices and flat lead roofs. Verandah along south terrace: trelliswork posts
with elliptical heads. Glass pentice roof. Front door in a stone porch over
the lane on west gable wall. Doorway with segmental head. C20 plank door.
Stone steps and heavy stone coped parapet on left leading up to front door.
