Late C16 or early C17. Much altered cottage of painted brick. 2 storeys; one
casement window with horizontal sliding sash; plain doorway; thatched roof and
small one storey lean-to bay at rear, both covered with corrugated asbestos. Plain
C19 2-storey addition on right-hand side, one plain casement window, tiled roof.

Elm Cottage forms a group with Nos 1, 3 and Church Farmhouse, Church Street, Alvaston.
