C17 or earlier, with later alterations. Coursed ironstone rubble. Modern pantiled
roof. 3 storeys. 4 windows width. Northern 2, sashes with glazing bars, the 1st
floor with keystones. Southern part has 1 modern leaded casement to top floor and
modern bay window with leaded glazing to 1st floor. 2 modern shop fronts ground
floor. Interesting cellars now inaccessible. Formerly part of an inn "The King's
Head". King Charles I is generally understood to have slept here during the night
preceding the Battle of Naseby.
