5/5 The Ogilvie Almshouses
II
Terrace of 20 almshouses. Dated 1887 on tablet on west gable wall. Brick,
with pebbledash render and mock half timbering to first floor; pantiled roof.
String course at first floor level. Two-storeys. Each dwelling has a single
window range, sashes with pointed glazing bars to upper frame. Paired entrance
doors under projecting porch; plain boarded pointed doors, glazed spandrels.
Projecting centre gable with ground floor bay window in the form of a
conservatory; clock face to upper gable wall. A wooden pyramidal roofed bell-
cote is mounted centrally above the main roof range. Ornamental bargeboarding
to gable ends and porches.
