Vicarage, now house. c,1850 by William White. Ironstone ashlar. Steeply pitched
red tile roofs with ornamental ridge tiles. Brick ridge and end stacks. Stone
lateral stacks with brick shafts, L-plan with elevation facing Main Street and
rear double-range with M-shaped roof. Elevation facing road hasa canted bay
window with hipped tiled roof and a 3-light stone mullioned window. Attic has a
gabled full dormer with a 4-light stone mullioned window and remains of finial,
Left end has a tile-hung gable, a 2-storey bay window with tile-hanging on stone
lateral stack and 2 buttresses. Right end. Single-storey stone and timber porch
with red-tile roof and ornamental ridge tiles. Plank door with wrought-iron
fittings, Arch bracing. Early English style windows in right gable. Rear range
has 2-window range, tile-hung, jettied and with 2 entrances. 2 gabled
half-dormers. Left elevation or garden front. Irregular with red tile pent
roofs, and stone lateral stack. Interior: Pointed arched doorways, plank doors
with strap hinges and wrought-iron latches. Open wall staircase with pendants.
Bay windows with shutters with wrought-iron hinges and fasteners. 0riqinal stone
fireplace. William White was one of a group of architects associated with the
Ecclesiological movement which developed a style of Gothic for small houses and
parsonages in the Mid Victorian Period.
