Country house, now school. Dated ER 1882 on plaque and rainwater
heads. By Ewan Christian for Abraham John Robarts. Crimson brick
and terracotta dressings, tiled roof. Neo-Elizabethan with clusters
of tall patterned chimney shafts, mullion and transom windows and
irregularly gabled facades. Some gables have terracotta panels with
foliage and heraldry in the Arts and Crafts style, one inscribed
"Marjorie and Alice Robarts 1882". Two storeys and attic. S.E.
front has round oriel window and projecting square tower with sundials
and ogee lead roof to right. Rear has recessed central section with
semi-circular staircase projection. Interior: in similar style with
wooden panelling and ribbed plaster ceilings.
