Farmhouse. Plaque inscribed "1740" and lintel "Mr George Roberts/ Nov 17th
1739". Brick, finely coursed sandstone rubble and sandstone dressings;
hipped Welsh slate roofs and brick stacks. L-plan with main range east/
west and wing extending south at west end. Cellar, two storeys and attics.
North elevation has three windows, glazing bar sashes; channelled voussoirs
with projecting keystones. Narrow central window; gabled dormers with 2-light
casements. Central doorway with channelled voussoirs, jambs and head. Dropped
keystone, transom light and 6-panelled door. Attached to right-hand side is
lower wing with 2-light central first floor casement; central late C19 door
with inscribed lintel "Mr George Roberts/ Nov 17th 1739", to left of which is
3-light casement and to right top vent late C20 window. South elevation has
1740 on plaque to verged gable of lower wing to left-hand side. To centre of
main block is semi-circular brick staircase tower at the top of which is a
2-light casement and hipped roof. West elevation has stable door and blocked
vent slits in lower range suggesting that it was designed initially as a granary
extension. Interior (not inspected) noted by RCHM has having stone newel within
staircase tower. (RCHM Vol I, p 199).
