1811. Architect, H Kitchen. Patron, Thomas Calverley. Two storeys,
Roman cement, with three-storey centre tower with buttresses at the angles
and battlements, canopied Gothic niche to top floor, pointed 3 - light
traceried window with dripmould to 1st floor, ground floor with battlemented
arcaded and vaulted porch and 'porte cochere' to road with four centred
headed entrance doorway, buttresses and battlements. Wings to each side
of tower slightly set back. Three mullioned and transomed windows with
dripmoulds to 1st floor, ground floor with 4-centred headed traceried
windows with dripmoulds. Battlements and octagonal corner towers rising
up with battlemented tops. Garden front is two storeys, Roman cement,
seven sash windows with Gothic dripmoulds, battlements and octagonal angle
towers with battlements. 'Chapel' wing to right with battlemented gable
with pinnacles and open bell turret. Pointed traceried window to 1st
floor.
