GV II
Former inn, now betting shop. Late C17, altered in C19 and C20. Brick, rendered to principal.
elevations, hipped tiled roof with end stacks. Seven bay principal facade at right-angles to street
facing St Alphege's churchyard, two-bay street -elevation. Three storeys. Deep and dentiled eaves
cornice, bands between each storey, that to second floor broken by central staircase window on
main elevation; this flanked by regular composition of one short and two broad openings to either
side placed symmetrically but now mostly blocked. Street elevation with C19 sash windows in

A remarkable survival of a grand, late-C17 composition with prominent group value.
