9/7 THE OLD RECTORY
GV II
Originally an early C18 house with a later wing added to the north facade. In the
late C19 a cross-wing was built at the south end, and the interior of the earlier
house remodelled. Red brick and C19 red brick, plain tiled roofs. Ridge stack and
end stack to east. Two storeys with attics and half basement. Brick band between
floors. Coved eaves cornice. Three flat roofed dormer windows with hung sashes and
glazing bars. Six hung sash windows with glazing bars in boxed wooden architraves
at both floor levels, those at ground floor in segmental arches. Plinth with
segmental arches to cellar lights. Restored portico with fluted lonic columns,
plain pilasters and frieze with segmental pediment. C19 cross-wing, 2 storeys,
dentil brick eaves cornice. Four recessed hung sash windows with glazing bars.
The interior has some C18 panelling and window shutters. Other details largely C19.
