II
Estate lodge, built as gardener's cottage. 1885, by Alfred Waterhouse. Red brick with raised
brick panel patterns in the gables with corbelled corners and toothed verges. Plain tile roof with
gabled ends. Brick axial stack at centre with brick shafts and corbelled brick cap. PLAN:
Cruciform plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical elevations. Gable-ends of wings with patterned
brickwork and 3 and 4-light casements with glazing bars in the top lights and in segmental arch
openings. Wooden lean-to open porch on timber post with arch and studding above;
segmental-headed doorway with plank door. Main roof carried down as catslide over outshut
in angle at rear. INTERIOR not inspected.
