Blanket mill, c.1820. Squared and coursed limestone with brick walling to gable
ends; stone-coped Welsh-slate roof. 4 storeys; symmetrical 6-window range.
Concrete lintel over plank double doors to left and flat stone arch over central
plank door. Flat stone arches over iron casements. Interior: heavy beans
supported by cast-iron columns. The mill has water powered, and combined the
fulling, weaving and spinning processes under one roof. Shafts and wheels for
belts remain, but mill-wheel has gone. The earliest surviving industrial
building of Richard Early and Sons Ltd. of which it remains a part. Flanking
wings are not of special architectural interest.
