Country house, now with some flats; mainly early C19 with later C19
additions, incorporating C18 and earlier fabric at the back. Ashlar
stone front with slate roofs to C19 south block, rubble and tiles at
back. 2 storeys with 3 storey central feature, attics at back. S. front;
right hand part 9 bays, the 3 centre bays in a 2 storey segmental bow,
above which rises the pedimented central block with 1 2nd floor sash
window; cornice above 1st floor, cill band below; sash windows, the ground
floor ones taken down to ground level, and covered by an elaborate
cast iron verandah with lattice entablature and gothic pattern openwork
piers. E. elevation has 1 bay projections each side of recessed bay
with C20 stone porch, ground floor sashes set in blank arches. W. wing
later C19 with conservatory of 5 bays with stone pilasters,cornice and
parapet. 1st floor set back with 2 sashes, 2 storey western block with
3 sashes to south, 5 to west elevation and 1 storey stone bow window
to ground floor. Rear elevation irregular with 2 gabled C18 section
in centre; older wing, altered C18, to western side, has tiled roofs
with stone coped gables. Interior Good mahogany staircase with inlaid
handrail and shaped tread ends, ornamental plaster cornice to
stairwell. Drawing room in bow fronted bays has C18 carved wood chimney
piece, ornamental plaster cornice.
