House, now shop. C15, refronted c1700, with C20 alterations
and 1986-90 refurbishment. Timber-frame with some re-used
timber and stucco facade; slate roof with stucco end stack.
L-plan. 3 storeys with attic; symmetrical 5-window range, the
central windows blind Top modillioned wooden cornice. C20
shopfront with recessed left end and opening to return. 1st
and 2nd floors have windows with 4-pane horned sashes; 2
pedimented dormers with casements.
INTERIOR has exposed timber-framing to 1st and 2nd floors of
storey-height panels with middle rails, including braces and
jowled head of wall post; some exposed queen post trusses. 1st
floor splat-baluster stair with square newel, one inscribed
WP/1791. Rear wing has what appear to be 2 cusped wind braces
used as door head or incorporated into roof truss.
Incorporated into shopping centre.
