Lychgate, circa 1900. Stone plinth, timber framing and old tile roof.
In Art Nouvean style. Stone plinth is coursed ashlar with ramped base
and moulded top. Inside are bench seat in stone. Timber framing has
prominent pegs. Sides have depressed arches to sides with decorative
relief panels over them in between long flat arched bay with balustrade
halfway up, moulded rail. Chamfered and stopped arches. Short sides
have centre flat arch. entry and side lights separated by octagonal
shafts with octagonal moulded caps. Hipped roof with gablets that
have timber lancets. Central lead clad finial spirelet with wrought
iron scrolls in Art Nouveau Gothic style. Built at the expense of
Mrs. Sams, wife of the then rector in about 1900.
