Linton Gill Farmhouse
and adjoining dairy
and barn

Farmhouse, dairy and barn, now private house. Late C17 with alterations dated
and inscribed over dairy entrance J & JW 1725. Red sandstone rubble walls,
under Welsh slate roof with bottom courses of sandstone slates; brick chimney
stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays with single-bay dairy (probably originally a byre)
under common roof, and lower barn to left. C20 door in rebuilt alternate-block
surround. Ground-floor 2-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows. C20 casement
windows in original small chamfered surrounds above. Dairy has plank door in
alternate-block surround under dated lintel. C20 casement window to left. Barn
has large plank-door cart entrance. Interior of house has beamed ground-floor
ceiling, inglenook with heck partition, and salt cupboard recess. Upper-floor
trusses have tie beams cut and removed.
