Canal Lodge. 1824-7. White-washed brick with a slate roof and
overhanging eaves. Two brick gable stacks. Two storeys, three bays.
South front has central doorway with crude pilaster and
pediment door surround. Either side single 3-light casements
with segmentally-arched brick heads. Two similar though smaller
windows above. Built to serve the Harecastle Tunnel for the
Trent and Mersey Canal.
