House. C16 origins, but completely remodelled late C18 and
early 1980s. Formerly an L-plan, with the hall range to the
rear. Brick with pantiled roofs. Front elevation of 3 storeys
in 2-3 bays. Door to right now blocked and converted to a
window, the 6-vaned fanlight remaining. 2 horned sashes to
left with glazing bars. 2 similar to first floor and, smaller,
to top floor. All windows are late C20 replicas and are under
gauged skewback arches. Triple modillion brackets to eaves
cornice. Gabled roof. Internal gable-end stack to south.
Entrance is to rear to north of 2-storied cross wing. This
wing (which is designated 23B) has at ground floor 4 lights
remaining of a 6-light cross-casement hall window. INTERIOR.
Oval staircase in No.23A: stick balusters and wreathed
handrail. West side of roof retains one clasped purlin, but is
otherwise totally renewed.
