Detached House, former farmhouse. C15 core (open hall) with c.1600
ceiling and C20 alterations. Coursed dressed stone walls. Thatch
roof with gable-end at right hand, and gable at left hand to front.
Stone gable-coping at left hand with ball-finial. 3 brick stacks.
at left front side wall; backing on to cross-passage; at right hand
gable. Former open-hall, ceiled, with front range added at right-
angles in C17. 2 storeys. 3 windows to the main range, 4-light
stone mullions, hollow-chamfered with separate labels over the ground
floor. No labels to first floor. C19 iron, and C20 metal casements.
Front door, right of centre, plank and muntin, studded, with strap-
hinges. Wooden porch, C20, with a hipped thatch canopy over. Interior:
roof: arch-braced collar-beam construction, with 2 bays of cusped
wind-bracing (two tiers), defining open hall and further wind-bracing
above inserted stack. Smoke-blackening. C15. Hall ceiling of c.mid
C16. a cross of beams with massive straight chamfers. Wide inserted
fireplace backing onto original cross-passage has stone jamb and
straight chamfered lintel. Large open fireplace below cross-passage,
wooden lintel with run-out stops. Parlour extension-at higher end
has a C17 depressed-arch fireplace with straight-chamfered stone jambs.
Hall stair-position possibly unaltered, stair itself rebuilt.
