GV II

Railway station building; now workshops. Probably 1846-8. For
Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway; altered. Coursed
squared sandstone, slate roof. Irregular plan formed by 3
parallel ranges of different lengths, under 3-span roof. The
platform facade has a very wide former entrance with lintel
supported by a central cast-iron column; to the left of this,
a wide doorway at the left end, a cross-window with square
flush mullion and transom, another doorway, and a similar
cross-window; and to the right another similar window, now
blocked. The rear has various similar mullioned and
cross-windows.
