Cotton spinning mill. 1908. G.Stott for the Devon Mill Ltd.
Steam-powered. Cast-iron and steel-framed with brick walls.
Flat roof. 4 storeys and basement, 36 bays by 10 with corner
stair towers with raised parapets. Tall flat-headed windows
with corbelling over ground and upper storeys, continuous
stone sill band to upper storey, and enriched corbelled eaves.
Integral main stair and sprinkler tower at southwest corner,
projecting by one storey above the main roof-line.
Round-arched entrance doorway in west elevation, now partly
blocked, and triple windows on each floor above. Stone
dressings to parapet. Engine house projects from north west,
with 4 round-arched windows and stone dressings. Rope race in
west elevation, stressed with 4 blind corbelled panels and
with 4 windows each side. Modified loading doors to right of
rope race. Detached chimney to north.
