House. Mid C17 with C19 and C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: rubble with ashlar and painted ashlar dressings;
rendered bay window. Roof concrete tiles with stone gable
copings and rendered chimneys; bay window roof Welsh slate.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 bays. Walls show slight batter.
North front, facing green, has C20 outshut at left obscuring
door. Central window with flat stone lintel is probably
inserted in earlier doorway, detail obscured by mortar. Above,
keyed round headed surround to stair window with late C19
coloured glass in margined lights. At right, 2-storey canted
bay window with cornice and chamfered stone mullions to 1:4:1
lights on each floor. Gables, lower over bay window, have
copings on moulded kneelers. End chimneys have renewed flat
stone coping.
Rear elevation, to south, has painted flat stone lintels,
pecked and margined, over central late C20 boarded door with
central glazed panel, and plain overlight, and late C20 plain
windows with top-hung transom lights, plus C20 sash with
glazing bars at west ground floor. Painted projecting stone
sills to windows.
INTERIOR shows chamfered stone fire surround with recessed
Tudor-arched, head dated 1651 for IKK? in ground-floor west
room. Splayed reveals to south window in this room and
chamfered ceiling beam. Central narrow stair with lower
winders has renewed handrail and apparently renewed boarded
steps.
