The Lock Shop

GV II

Canal Lock keepers cottage, now shop. Dated 1854. White-washed
and rendered brick with Welsh slate roof and central ridge
stack. Short ridge stack to left. Single-storey 3-window range
with central slightly projecting gable with plaque over
inscribed SWCC. Small C19 shop window to left and door beyond.
Extension on left end. C20 bow window on right end with plaque
over inscribed AD 1854. Extension to rear. Gable apexes have
turned and pointed wooden finials. Forms a group with Toll
Office(q.v.) adjacent to York Street Lock at the head of the
canal basin.
