House. Probably C17 in origin but altered in the early C18.
Roughcast local stone rubble; asbestos slate roof; stacks with
rendered shafts, right end stack with stone rubble shaft and
C17 cap.
Plan: single-depth south-facing main range, 3 rooms wide,
left-hand room heated by rear left stack, right-hand rooms
heated by axial and right end stacks, entrance to left of
centre facing stair. The accommodation has been extended into
part of a former outbuilding in a wing at right-angles to the
front right (qv cartshed range). Stable block at left end of
main range now a holiday cottage (qv).
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front with 6-panel
front door, upper panels glazed. 2 ground-floor and 2
first-floor 2-light casements, 10 panes per light, 15-pane
fixed window to first floor centre. Rear elevation of main
block has sash windows. Stable block at left end includes
mounting block. Front right wing has C20 lean-to porch into
passage formerly dividing domestic and agricultural ranges.
Domestic part of wing has 2-window front with casement
windows.
INTERIOR: main range has waney cross beams (plastered over) to
middle room, small open fireplace. Left-hand room, with higher
ceiling than others, has 6-panel door and angle fireplace,
chimneypiece missing. Right-hand room has small fireplace and
axial ceiling beam. Some 2-panel early C18 doors upstairs.
Feet of principal rafters not visible in first-floor rooms.
