Cart shed, stables and loft to
south-east of Park Head Farmhouse

GV II

Cart shed, stables, loft and barn, and storage shed. Probably
late C18 barn with early C19 cart shed and loft; early C19
hemmel and storage shed with hemmel wall. Coursed rubble with
quoins; roofs pantiles and concrete tiles, with Welsh slate on
storage shed. Hemmel wall rubble with irregular block coping.
T-plan.
2 storeys, 3:6 bays to east range; one low storey and 3 wide
bays to hemmel and storage shed at right-angles. 3-bay cart
shed at left of main range has boarded doors in central of 3
segmental-headed vehicle arches with voussoirs. Left arch
half-blocked, with hit and miss vent at left and boarded door
at right; right arch has recessed boarded doors. Plain stone
surrounds to 2 small loft openings above, between arches.
Earlier long range at right has thin wood lintels to small
vent at left, single boarded door in 2nd bay, and small vent
above at left. Plain stone surrounds to 2 loft openings with
boarded shutter to first and slatted vent to 2nd. Right bays
obscured by hemmel breaking forward. Hemmel has single boarded
door under wedge stone lintel; storage shed at right has
sliding boarded doors.
Roofs steeply pitched over first build, with pantiles; low
pitched and hipped at left over 2nd build with concrete tiles;
low pitched over hemmel and storage shed with Welsh slate.
Left return has flat stone lintel over hit and miss vent with
top glazing bars.
Rear elevation to road shows ground-floor vent slits and
blocked door, with pitching door and boarded openings above.
Hemmel wall in front of cobbled forecourt to hemmel and
storage shed is coursed rubble with roughly rounded coping.
