House, now shop and office. Dated 1726 on rainwater head;
mid/late C16 rear wing. Brick with stucco dressings and hipped
tile roof with brick stacks; rear wing timber-framed with
brick ground floor. Early Georgian style. 3 storeys;
symmetrical 5-window range. Top modillioned cornice and end
quoin strips. Windows have brick segmental arches with
fielded-panelled keystones overlate C19 horned sashes, those
to 2nd floor of 4 panes. Attic has gabled dormer window. C20
shop front to ground floor. Large cross-axial stack. Plain
rainwater head and square downpipe; tile street name to 5th
bay. Right return to Lich Gates similar, of 8 bays; quoin
strip to right of 5th bay, windows to right higher. Shop front
continued to 1st 5 bays, then 2 flat-arched windows and
blocked entrance; gabled dormer window to attic and
cross-axial stack. Rainwater head has monogram, crest and
date: 1726, square downpipe; tile street name. North end of
west elevation off Exchange Street has C16 timber-framed
gabled bay with brick underbuilding to ground floor and
jettied gable on enriched brackets; C20 casement windows have
leaded glazing. INTERIOR of rear wing has chamfered beams and
jointed cruck trusses.
