Country house, now hotel. Early C19 with mid C19 and C20
additions and alterations. Ashlar with ashlar dressings and
hipped slate roofs with 4 ridge stacks, 2 of them capped.
Moulded cornices.
2 storeys; 3 bays. South front has central semicircular
painted ashlar porch with clustered columns and cornice.
Glazed door flanked by tall glazing bar windows, all with
overlights. Plain round-headed ashlar inner doorcase with
half-glazed door with etched glass panels, and fanlight. Above
the porch, a canted slate hung bay window with cornice and 3
plain sashes. On either side, a canted 2-storey stone bay
window with first-floor sill band and moulded cornice. 3 plain
sashes on each floor, the lower ones taller. Rear has a large
2-storey addition in rock-faced stone.
INTERIOR: staircase hall has mutule ceiling cornice,
Adam-style frieze and oval skylight, containing a stone dogleg
staircase with shaped landing, stick balusters and ramped
scrolled handrail. Front ground-floor room has enriched
cornice.
