Town house with later shop. C18 or earlier, front remodelled
probably mid C19. Render on rubble; scantle slate roof with
C19 crested clay ridge tiles; dry slate hipped roofs at rear,
brick axial stack. Single-depth plan plus rear wing on right
and narrow wing over ope. 3 storeys; 3-window range. Mid/late
C19 four-pane hornless sashes, the 2 above shop front on right
reduced in height. Late C20 double shop front with wide
splayed doorway. Above ope on the left is a plaque inscribed:
"Near this spot lived and worked John Arnold, Born in Bodmin
1736. Horologist, perfector of the ship's chronometer and
benefactor of those who journey on the seas". Rear is
slatehanging on studwork; 3 early/mid C19 hornless sashes with
glazing bars and 1 later sash. INTERIOR: not inspected but
likely to be of interest.
