Office, formerly house. Late C16 frame, late C17 rebuilding,
early C19 rear addition. Timber-framed and plastered on a
brick sill, peg tile and slate roof, red brick central stack.
L shaped plan of principal range and short full height
addition in E side. 2 storey and cellar. Front, S elevation: 2
window range. Ground floor, E-W, diagonally set plain doorway
across corner to Barnard's Yard, curved steps up, overlight,
door has upper glazing, 2x3 panes. Adjacent wide early C19
shop window, cornice hood and consoles,now with single fixed
glass pane, simple sash window with glazing bars, 4x4 panes.
First floor, 2 similar sash windows but 3x3 panes. Rear, N
elevation: slated roof continuous from front block over
addition. Recessed wall of brick now colourwashed. Ground
floor, segment headed doorway with C20 door, upper glazed
panel and lower recessed panel, small C20 fixed casement
window in older segment headed aperture. Above, first floor
sash window with glazing bars, 4x4 panes. E end to Barnard's
Yard: shop window, similar to front, adjacent to corner
doorway, above, 3x3 paned sash window, 2 similar windows one
to each floor in rear addition.
INTERIOR: C16 framing seen on first floor, wall plates, jowled
posts and some heavy studding. Also thin late C17 replacement
studding. 2 ground floor fireplaces, one in main block with
late C17 brick and timber lintel (now with some C20
infilling). Rear C19 fireplace (in stack now cut down below
roof), segment headed with iron support band. Rear room has
good contemporary pink-yellow gault brick floor.
