Dovecote approx 5m WSW of No 106
II
Former dovecote, later privy, now store. Possibly C17. Good
squared and coursed Portland block, stone slab roof. A small
square building with an intermediate stone slab floor, and a
window opening to S, blocked flush in brick; the roof in solid
stone block to a steep pitch and stone ridge. C19 door to
east, opening into mid-C20 connecting glazed corridor to
house, and a small opening on the W wall, away from the house.
Stone gutters project at ends. This looks from without like a
grand privy structure, but seems to have been a dovecote
originally; the blocked gable opening may have had louvre or
dove openings. Interior has stone floor slab at eaves level,
with central square opening. An unusual and rare survival,
attached to a small house (qv) of corresponding interest
historically.
