House. C17, altered in late C18/early C19, extended and
altered in C20. Timber-framed, weatherboarded, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. Formerly comprised a 2-bay range to
left, extending to the rear, a central chimney-bay and one bay
to the right, forming a lobby-entrance plan. Altered in the
late C18/early C19 by the removal of the central stack, the
addition of external stacks to left and right, and the
addition of a one-bay extension to rear right, converting an
L-plan to a rectangular plan.
2 storeys. Two C20 adjacent single-storey extensions to rear
right. C20 2-storey wing to rear left. Two C20 sashes on each
floor, with rectangular leading. Central C20 gabled porch with
half-glazed door at front. Roof hipped. INTERIOR: the front
right ground-floor room has an original chamfered axial beam
with unusual double-concave stops, joists plastered to the
soffits, original girts, and a C20 grate. The front left
ground-floor room has exposed plain joists of vertical
section, and a small hearth. The original studding to the rear
of this room has been removed, and in the original rear bay
the joists have been removed to make a large stair hall.
