Former Malthouse. Late C18 with later alteration. Dressed sandstone to front, coursed sandstone rubble to sides; bordered herringbone-tooled quoins; pantile roof. Rectangular on plan with lean-to outbuilding to rear of left wall. Three storey, two window end on to street. Deeply recessed panelled door to right with later inserted three-fixed light shop window to left, under long timber lintel. First floor windows are partly blocked sashes. Three small timber framed window openings to second floor. Heavy plain lintels to first and second floor openings. Left return fronts: three small timber slatted openings to ground and first floors. Right return fronts: wide plank door to first floor approached by stone steps. Board lifting door to second floor to left. Hipped roof. The building was in use until the early years of the C20 for sprouting barley to produce malt for brewing.
