859-1/6/141 (North side)
04/03/52 Nos.85 AND 86
GV II
Two houses in row. Early C18. Painted Flemish bond brickwork,
hipped tile roof, brick stacks. Deep plan with central
through-entry.
3 storeys, 3-windowed. 12-pane sashes under segmental heads
and with face boxes to bays 1 and 2, and 4-pane sashes in bay
3 (No.86). At ground floor, under a continuous slight fascia
board, the entry to No.84, then, to centre, open doorway to
Turners Court; to right, a small C19 shop front over panelled
stall-riser, and a panelled door under shallow transom-light,
set back, and with 2-panelled reveal to the right. Mid
plat-band; moulded wooden eaves course. The left gable wall
has light panel framing with brick nogging, and similar
construction in the throughway. At the back are 2 hipped
gables with brick dentil eaves, and 2 brick stacks. 2-light
casement at first floor to segmental head. Long 2-storey wing
to left (E) side. INTERIOR not inspected.
This appears to be, unusually, a complete rebuilding of the
C18.
