Farmhouse, dated 1628, altered, with C19 extension, now 3 dwellings.
Random rubble with quoins, stone slate roof with 2 pairs of coupled
chimneys on the ridge, one chimney at right gable. Originally 3-bay
L-shaped plan with projecting wing to 3rd bay. Two storeys; gable of
wing has kneelers with finials, incorporates porch with chamfered
doorway on left, a datestone over it lettered "1628" ("2" reversed),
and has one 3-light stone mullion window on each floor and a small
blocked window in apex; to left are 2 similar windows on each floor
(4 lights at ground floor); all these windows have hoodmoulds and are
probably restorations. Rear has 2 original double-chamfered stone
mullion windows on each floor, all with hoodmoulds. Interior altered.
C19 addition on right in matching style. History: see Ainsworth
Homesteads pp.18-23.
