House. c1600 and early C19. Timber-framed with painted brick
front and gabled clay plain tile roof, rising to hip in centre
for later extension at rear. 2 storeys and attics.
EXTERIOR: front has dormer with double-hung sash window, small
panes and lean-to slate roof and one flush double-hung sash
window with moulded surround under shallow painted brick arch
on first floor. Ground floor has early C19 doorcase with
reeded architrave, flat hood, margin glazed fanlight and C20
4-panel door and one similar double-hung sash window. Tarred
plinth with moulded brick coping. One gable end stack.
INTERIOR: timber frame of c1600, the joists with narrow
stopped chamfers. Formerly jettied to street. Rear wall stack
and some adjoining exposed framing. Attic floor spine beam
exposed on underside and roof is of 'A' frame-type. Part of
structure with Nos 38A & 39 (qv).
