House, now inn. Early C17. Timber-frame and brick; plain tile
roof; two C20 brick stacks to left side, brick stack to right
rear.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, attic and cellar; 2-window range: late
C19, 2/2 sashes projecting in moulded architraves; similar 2/2
sashes, in twin gables; moulded barge- boards with pendants at
apex. Half-glazed double door to centre left; flanking
matching leaded windows in moulded architraves; moulded
cornice. Late C19 brickwork to left and right gables; box
framing with brick and plastered brick infill, having brick
and stone chimney visible to left rear. Long central wing to
rear; lattice leaded casements.
Cross wing to left rear: deeply jettied, with chamfered soffit
joists on C20 restored posts and bressumer; brick chimney; 8/8
sliding sash, in moulded case; C20 additions; brick infill
with light timber-framing on 1st floor; rear has 2, 4/4
casements.
INTERIOR: early C19 winder stair with stick balusters. Attic:
exposed earlier roof truss; various rooms. 1st floor:
panelling doors; wall paintings; panelling doors to wall
cupboards; panelling with frieze; plaster overmantle;
decorative plasterwork ceiling; moulded stone fireplace with
oak lintel; moulded ceiling frame. C17 panelled room with
chamfered ceiling beam, and panelled alcove with fireplace;
plank door; 4-panel doors; moulded ceiling beams. Ground
floor: some exposed timbers. Range to rear: bolection moulded
stone fireplace; chamfered ceiling beams; cast-iron fireplace.
