Farmhouse. Probably C17 with late C17 - early C18 range to left and later
additions and refronting. "C H" on gable-end tie beams, probably for
Christopher Hildyard. Stuccoed and colour-washed brick with asphalted slate
roof. 2-storey, 2-bay range to left with 2-lower-storey, 2-longer-bay
range to right. Off-centre entrance, a part-glazed, 4-panel door with
overlight under wedge lintel. 8-long-pane sashes under wedge lintels to
left range. 3- and 4-light casements with wooden mullions to right range,
those to ground floor under wedge lintels. Stepped eaves to right. Brick
ridge and end stacks. Interior: staircase has shaped-rod-on-vase balusters
with square knops, 2 per tread. A 6-fielded-panel door to attic. Chamfered
beams to some ceilings. Some plank doors.
