Pair of attached offices. c1850. Limestone ashlar, roof not
visible. Double-depth plan. Neoclassical style. Each of 3
storeys; 1-window range. A symmetrical front has C20 shop
fronts, the left-hand one boarded at time of review, that to
the right with right-hand doorway, and a timber cornice;
pilasters above with acanthus capitals, frieze and fluted
brackets to a deep bracketed cornice. The left-hand return
with similar articulation and random ashlar. At the base of
the pilasters are small pedestals, with cast-iron railing
between of palmettes. Windows have architraves, with
first-floor moulded consoles to cornices and French windows,
second floor eared to 6/6-pane sashes, and third-floor eared
to 3/3-pane sashes. INTERIOR not inspected. The return has
similar stonework to the Grand Hotel (qv), and the pair may
have been rebuilt c1869.
