House. Mid C16 and with C19 additions. Timber-framed with C20
plastering, peg and clay tiled roofs. L shaped plan. 2 storeys
and attics. All windows except 2 are C20 casements with
glazing bars. Front W elevation: large 5 window range with
lesser single window unit at S end. Large C17 rectangular
stack towards N end, lesser stack at S end of both units.
Principal (N) block, windows somewhat irregular, 1, 2 and
3-lights, shallow bay window 4x4 lights on ground floor at N
end. Central C20 doorway with lean-to peg-tiled timber and
brick porch. 2 gabled dormer windows at centre and S end.
Lesser S end unit with upper and lower 3-light windows, upper
as dropped dormer. Rear E elevation: range as front, rear
additional lean-to with catslide roof (at S end of principal
range), slender C19 stack against S side. Windows similar to
front with 6-light ground floor casement window to lean-to.
Principal range ground floor N end, two 3-light mid Cl6
windows, roll and hollow chamfer moulded mullions with plain
minor diagonally set intermediates, shutter rebates. Both
windows now glass covered. S end unit plain with C20 fully
glazed door. S end elevation: 2 gables with stacks almost in
line and rear outshut with stack. 3 first floor casement
windows. To W, long ground floor wing, C19 red brick at W end,
rest rendered, corrugated asbestos roof, C20 windows as rest.
N side of wing of C19 random brick and cobble construction. N
end elevation: plain except for attic 2-light casement window.
Prominent weathering board at eaves level.
INTERIOR: not inspected but seen to have framing exposed and
ceiling joists flat laid, commensurate with mid C16 windows.
House appears to been developed in C17 to a 3-celled type.
